The Town of Miami Lakes Taxpayer Receipt shows how your estimated local property taxes support the services provided by the Town. After entering the taxable (assessed) value of your home, you will be provided a breakdown of how much of your local tax dollars are used to fund departments and initiatives in the Town of Miami Lakes. Please note that the portion of taxes you pay that support other entities, such as the Miami-Dade County, the School Board, The Children's Trust, and others are excluded from this report since they do not contribute to Town’s general fund. Currently, the general fund expenses are higher than the portion of property taxes the Town receives. Meaning that other revenue sources such as: intergovernmental revenues, utility taxes, etc. must be considered as well to cover all general fund expenditures. To estimate how property tax dollars are distributed, the percentage of each category Vs. total general fund expenditures is calculated. The property tax dollars distribution is equivalent to the calculated percentage.
